Blizzard 2016

Welp.  I completely forgot about blogging this week.
Fun Saturday night of blogging it is.

The weather has definitely been up and down to say the least.
So when it got cold....we didn't like it.

Mason has been loving his new iPad gaming system.  Osmo is the coolest thing ever.  It is all educational but they call it a game.

They were forecasting a blizzard (yes I said blizzard) two Fridays ago so we wore our pjs on inside out Thursday night.

It did snow...but maybe an inch.  Of course there was a ton of snow to the east and west of us.  School was still cancelled and we made it a fun day.

John and Robert both went into work so Becca and I got the kids together to play.  It was bitterly cold and windy, but we still got out there for a bit.

This is how we sled...

Snowball fight.

A good friend from high school got married that Saturday night.  It was such a fun wedding!

And who doesn't love a good Photo Booth opportunity.

Sunday night we had the Browers over to celebrate Grandma Judy's birthday.  I have decided it is never a good idea to take just one kid to the store for a quick trip.  He filled the cart up with the birthday cake, lunchables (he said they were on sale), chips, and ice cream.

We had a fun night celebrating Grandma!

Grandma Judy with 7 of her 9 grandkids.

Now to catch up blogging from this week!

Santa and a Basketball Game

It has gotten a tad chilly around here....time to break out the vests.

A couple of weekends ago, we had our girls' Christmas brunch.  We bring a  "favorite things" gift and always have a blast.  We also celebrated Blake's birthday.
Presents, Mimosas, Friends, and Cake = Can never go wrong.

Caught Emma chill in' by a fire.

We've been playing all of our new board games.
The boys got serious with Operation.

Twister got interesting...

This past Thursday, I took the boys with me for Mexican with my girlfriends while John bowled.  As soon as we walked in, Brody spotted a man who, in his defense, totally looked like Santa Claus.
He could not stop staring and waving.  Of course I was dying of embarrassment and finally got him to turn around.
Next thing I know, that sweet man stopped by our table as he was leaving and gave the boys "special elf tokens" that say naughty on one side and nice on the other.  He told them to listen to their Mommy and do what I say.  I will flip the tokens to naughty if they misbehave and his elves will report back to him.

Brody was amazed and couldn't believe it.  Mason asked us a million times if it really was Santa.

What a wonderful man.
Who knew Santa ate at El Porton in Germantown.

We had a rainy walk to school Friday morning.

And Mason came home with a wonderful report from school.  He aced his tests of counting by 5s and 10s and tested at the top of his class on writing numbers 1-20 in random order.  We have been working hard, and he was so proud of himself.  Of course we were proud as well!

Part of our Christmas presents were tickets to an Ole Miss basketball game.  They built a new arena and it opened in January.  We couldn't wait to see a game.

I don't know when he got so old but I don't like it!  He wanted to wear this new hoodie since it's a "big kid's outfit".

Brody was testing out his duck face.

We had a super fun time and kept these boys out past their bedtimes!
And that is one nice arena.

He was all about some silly faces and that hoodie.

Mason stole my phone...

Monday was MLK day and Mason was out of school.  He and Mickey Mouse went to the movies to see Alvin and the Chipmunks. If you were looking to see it, he said it was "amazing".

Ole' So Sweet

John and I left for New Orleans on New Years Eve.
We found out we are getting older...
Evidence #1:  We almost finished the entire Serial podcast during the drive.

We stayed in the Garden District and had dinner reservations early that night at Lilette.
It was such a cute little restaurant.

Dinner was at 5:30 (Evidence #2).

Man, it is a tad hard to read a French menu!
We ended up taking the trolley down to Bourbon.  We each had a drink, watched some of the Alabama game, and then headed back.  I could not keep my eyes open until midnight... we were asleep by 11:30.  This will be Evidence #3.

We woke up at the crack of dawn like normal (Evidence #4).  We piddled as long as we could, drank a couple of cups of coffee, and then decided it was time to grab some beignets.  Our game wasn't until 7:30 that night so we had allllll day to do whatever.

Cafe Du Monde had the longest line, so we decided to grab them to go and sit in Jackson Square to eat.  This entire area (really anywhere near Bourbon) is very interesting at 10:30am.  All the drunks are gone but the homeless people and every other weird person is out...

We walked around, wondered if if all the odd stuff we saw was actually real life, and then decided to find a restaurant to have a Bloody Mary.

We actually did end up having a great day.  We nursed those drinks until the normal people came out. Then we walked to several bars with tons of Ole Miss and Oklahoma State fans.  We even ran into a few people we knew.

We may be getting older but we still love spending time together.

Mom sent me this cute blurry picture of the boys in their Ole Miss gear ready to cheer on the Rebs.

Superdome.
(It was cold so we had to double up on vests and jackets.)

We were able to buy tickets from one of my bunco friends and our seats were amazing.

It had been a loooooong time since we played in the Sugar Bowl.
 46 years to be exact.

And it was so much fun.
We beat them pretty good, so everyone was happy happy happy.

We are so glad we were able to go and have that memory.  What a weekend!

We got home Saturday.  John's parents had gotten the boys Marvel Universe Live tickets for Christmas.  John had to work Sunday afternoon, so Judy and I took them.

To say they were excited would be an understatement!

New Years on Beale!!!!!  ha

Thanks Grandma Judy!

The show itself was actually pretty awesome.

The souvenirs were super expensive but oh so worth it.

And you got this cool hat with the purchase of popcorn.
There's that.

Monday I got a phone call from Brody's school.  Apparently one of his little friends threw a small car toy at him and he wouldn't stop bleeding.  It was the tiniest cut but went rather deep so off to the doctor he and Mickey Mouse went.  All it took was a little bit of glue and NO tears.  The doctors said they had never had a kid be so calm during that procedure.

It got cold this week.

My Special Day was on Wednesday.
Crab legs are a must on January 6th.  Always.

She is THE BEST!
