First Baseball Game

Last Friday I surprised Mason with lunch at school.  He was pretty happy.  He may have been even more excited than eating with me to be able to eat with his two friends behind us.

We decided to go to Costco Saturday after our first game was cancelled.
As you can see, the boys were thrilled...

But they quickly remembered they had snacks.

Waiting on Dad to bring us our healthy hot dogs and pizza.

Sunday morning before church.
We had two boys excited to be wearing shorts.

We have found a church home that has been a great fit for us.  We started going before Christmas, and it gets better each week.  We know several people from school, so the kids LOVE going.  It has been so easy to want to go every Sunday (which had been a struggle with our last church).  We miss it if we can't be there.  Its just feels perfect.

Doing a little shopping as well as the mannequin challenge.

This child.
We thought they were both asleep last Saturday night until Brody walked into our room at 10:45 and busted himself out.  John and I were already asleep FYI.  He had somehow managed to sneak his brother's iPad into his room.....

But it didn't stop us from enjoying the beautiful weather outside.

The World is Yours....there were no truer statements.

One night this week (they are all jumbled together), we attempted a family run/bike ride.  Brody found out he was a lot little slower than Mason and wasn't happy.

Brody is excited about his PreK Graduation coming up.  Couldn't wait to turn in his baby picture and show his friends.  He is actually not going to be starting Kindergarten since his birthday is so late.  We are putting him into a great 5K/Transitional program at a local church to give him another year to catch up.  So I guess he gets to graduate PreK twice!

The rain held off and the Yankees finally had their first baseball game.
This guy was super excited.

We had a little batting practice at home and Brody got in the rotation.  The kid can hit the ball for sure with coach pitch.  After hitting almost every single ball thrown (and I mean good, solid hits to the neighbors' house), he threw his bat down and said, "Sign me up!"

Waiting to bat.
No idea how he knew to stand there like this, but he looks like a legit baseball player.

John is one of the coaches and is loving it.  One of Mason's friends asked his mom at one of the practices, "Why does Mason's Dad look like a teenager?"  It was hilarious.

Brody discovered head phones.
The look on his face was priceless.

Last Friday was St. Patrick's Day.  No one was pinching us.
It was also the last day of spring break.

It was a cold spring break, and the boys didn't get to do much at all.  We were trying to think of something fun to do on Friday, so we decided on a staycation.

Becca and I got adjoining rooms in the Marriot at the Collierville mall. It was a nice hotel and more importantly, had an indoor pool.  We checked in at 3 and started swimming.  The kids LOVED it.

And the hot tub.

Lots of four year old conversations went on.

We ate pizza in the lobby with our own little section and tvs.
Then they raided the conference room before more swimming.

Best friends.
These three have been begging to spend the night together, so they finally got their wish (in matching pjs).

They were the first to wake (latest Brody has ever slept in before).
Muffins and fruit for the win.

My kids kept saying "it was the best day ever".  I'm almost positive Brody thought we went out of town.  Staycation = success.

After our long drive home, John and Mason played a little bit of one on one.

Brody and I headed to a birthday party for one of his classmates at the bowling alley.  They had superhero capes for everyone, and he wanted a picture with it.

When you don't knock them all down...

Nothing like a little arcade game fun after bowling and pizza.

We had to do some work on our old house before we put it on the market.
These guys were worn out by then.

We headed to Mickey Mouse and Pops' house Sunday to help clean out the attic.
We found all sorts of stuff.  Who doesn't need a giant sombrero?!

Brody wasn't impressed....

Mason got his baseball uniform.  They are the Yankees.

This week has been much warmer outside.  I get home from work everyday and six boys are always handing out.  Biker gang.

I have no idea why he wouldn't smile, but I think he is #1 too.

I LOVE his picture proof from school.  So cute.
This boy has done well in school this year.  Not to mention, he wakes up, changes clothes, brushes his teeth, and combs his hair ALL on his own.  Every morning before school.  (I won't talk about the days we have to make him wear would think we were killing him.)  He has grown so much.  He still likes to be silly most of the time, but also knows how to be a big kid.  He is growing up too fast.

John and Mason have been enjoying baseball practices.  (John may enjoy it even more than Mason....and I am not saying Mason doesn't love it.)  I finally got to go to one last night and really enjoyed watching them practice.  First game is this weekend.

Brody is now wondering when he gets to start playing.
Think he's sick of observing but does enjoy playing on the playground nearby.

Now it's time to enjoy the weekend.

10 Years

We had a couple of baseball practices last week.
Brody would rather play on the playground nearby.

Hat day at school.

Friday was our 10 year anniversary.
We are planning a trip to San Fran in June that will be our big "celebration", but we had to do a little bit of something fun Friday.

John took a half day, and we headed to Oxford.

We had been really looking forward to staying at the Graduate, and it did not disappoint.
Such a cute hotel.

All the keys to the room were student IDs.  We got Cooper and then some random woman.

The hotel is right off the square, and it has the cutest rooftop bar that looks right over it.

Thankfully, it was 60 and sunny.

Walking around the square.

We had dinner reservations at McEwens and then were able to stay awake long enough to finish watching Ole Miss in the SEC b-ball tournament at a bar. It was the start of spring break, so thankfully no students were out and about.

We ate at the BEST breakfast spot in town before we headed home.  It was a perfect little trip.

So thankful that we still love hanging out together ten years later.  I am certainly difficult to be around at times, stubborn, and moody.  Somehow John looks past that and still loves me for who I am.  He is my very best friend, and I cannot imagine life without him by my side.
10 years down, 70 to go.  =)

We rounded up the troop and headed home.

We had a birthday party Saturday afternoon.  Mason helped me pick out his friend's gift at Target.
He may never take that hat off.

Party was at Get Air.  They were so sweet to specifically invite Brody also.  Mason's friend's sister is in Brody's class at CCA, so they were able to hang out when the big kids ditched them on purpose.
You can see how big Brody thought he was...

A little hurricane fun.

Wild Saturday night hanging with our friends and kids.  The dance parties these days are a bit different than several years ago...

Monday and that time change had us all off.  It has been so cold this week and dark in the morning.  But this is a king size bed....Brody has the entire bed and he crawls in to sleep on top of his Dad.
