Spring Fun

It was Hat Day at school this past Friday to celebrate getting through the first week of TN Ready testing. My child looks about 12 years old here and I do not like it....

We had soccer practice Friday night. 

It was finally nice out!

We went to Three Guys after practice for a late dinner and ran into baseball friends.  The kids had such a good time running around and playing together.  

Saturday was game day.  

Brody started the day with a t-ball game and Mason had a soccer game that afternoon.

So I guess he got 3 HRs.  Ha.

Mason gave him a "game ball" since he threw two people out at first (although they are not counted as outs) and 3 "HRs". 

We ran home, grabbed sandwiches, and headed to the soccer fields.

We got home and they were bored....after being there for about an hour after a fun day of events. 

We decided to run up to the square and get ice cream before dinner.

We ended the night at Hueys with my parents.
Sunday was a nasty, rainy day out.
We.  Were.  Lazy.  

A Week of Fun

Not too much going on around here besides work, school, and after school fun.

Brody and I enjoying a bag of pretzels at 8pm during Mason's soccer practice after a baseball game.  If anything, all these extracurricular activities are helping me not eat through my house each night!  

Each Friday, Brody has speech at 3pm.  I go and help Mason's teacher for the thirty minutes he is in there.  His speech teacher then brings him back to Mason's classroom, and Brody gets to hang out until the bell rings.  It is always a Friday afternoon, so they have a reader or watch a short movie and eat a snack.  Brody sits right down in the middle of the class with all the kids.  He loves it. 

After school Friday, Mason had a friend over for pizza and fun.  

They had a really good time. 

Saturday was nasty outside.  We got a ton of rain Friday night. 

Soccer games were canceled AGAIN.  That didn't stop John and the kids from throwing the baseball. Just did it in the street. 

We had dinner Friday night for a friends' birthday.  I didn't get any great pictures.  We were excited to try The Gray Canary downtown.  It is new and fun.  We got this big punch bowl for the table. 

We had a great time with friends. 

Monday was BUSY BUSY BUSY. 

Our games are starting to get crammed because of all the soccer rainouts.  

If it could just stop raining on the weekends!!!

Mason had the early baseball game.  He was not too happy he was going to have to play catcher.  This baseball team has great players, no one wants to be catcher, but they are each having to take a turn.  Well, he showed them.  Instead of pouting and just catching and throwing the ball back....he actually played the position and hustled.  Jumped up each time.  

Next thing ya know, he jumped up to grab a ball and threw a kid out at first.  First time we've seen a catcher in this league throw someone out.  His teammates thought it was so cool.  

He also hit really well.  4 for 4 with a triple.  

So he got the game ball.  This game balls mean so much to those kids.  He wanted a case for it, so I ordered one.

The coaches have had a hard time deciding who will play catcher, but after the game, they all volunteered for the next game.  (And turns out, one of our kids played last night and tagged someone out at home.  It was awesome.)

Right after the game, we had to hop in the car and fly to the soccer fields for a soccer game.
It was also freezing Monday night.  We had coats and blankets and it wasn't enough when that sun went down!  I am ready for warmer weather!

I know he was so exhausted but he ran his little heart out.  He is sure fast, so he runs up and down that field the entire game.  He did so well.  I was worn out from just watching him.  

We were super proud of him.  He never complained and seemed to enjoy both games.  

Tuesday night is for t-ball games.  This week we played Davis and the Marlins.
They both had their cheering squads with them.
It is fun to be hanging out again watching games, but for another generation of kids.

We had a baseball game last night and are hoping soccer games are on for Saturday this weekend!

Baseball, Baseball, and T-ball

Well it happened.  Mason got his ortho appliances.  He has the two brackets on the front teeth attached to an arch expander along with the lower lip bumper.  I knew he was excited leading up to the day, but I didn't know how he would feel after he saw it all.  

He was thrilled.  Couldn't wait to get to school to show his friends (and take his tests).  Poor kid has missed a couple of hours of school here and there and HATES it.  He is so worried he won't have time to make up his stuff!  After this appointment though, he won't be missing much more school! 

His friends were all pretty excited for him.  Ive already talked to two Moms that said their kids are begging for braces now.  This dance is getting old.....

The eating is going to be tricky for a while.  

We celebrated with Smallcakes after dinner Friday night. 

Saturday was a cold, cold, rainy day.  All games/practices were cancelled.

We went to dinner Saturday night for Melissa's birthday.  Brody has been begging for a spike like his best friend Drew.  He had me send his Mom a picture of him....

Mr. Ben put trick candles on the cake.  

Mason and Brody thought it was the funniest thing in the world. 

Saturday night, John had talked to a guy he grew up playing baseball with.  We have run into him several times recently.  We have kids the same age and his son plays for Batters Box.  We had talked about trying out for a competitive team but went with rec baseball for another year.  Well they were short a player for the tournament in Oxford Sunday, and we decided to let Mason play.  

They played at 10 am (in the COLD) and if won, would keep playing.  

Mason was a champ about the whole thing.  He didn't know a soul.  Didn't know how they did things, but never acted like he didn't want to be there.  Those kids were so nice to him.  

He had never seen their coach pitch until he was up at bat and man, did he throw it from far back and with so much heat.  None of the other teams were doing that out there, all the others were throwing like Mason was used to.  BUT he finally got the timing right and got a hit and 2 RBIs.  It was a close game, so they really helped.  

Again, he didn't seem nervous.  But if you were watching Mom and Dad, you would have seen them pacing.  We put him in a tough spot, but he did so well.  We were so proud of him.  He played well, but what a trooper.  Going out there and not knowing a soul.  Never nervous or worried, just played the game.  They ended up losing the second game, so he only had to play two games. 

We got back from Oxford and went to Dave and Jenna's for a Crawfish/Masters party.

It was a loooooong day. 

Monday night was Mason's baseball game. 

Nothing like walking to the field and seeing the hot air balloon over the fields. 

Mason has been hitting so well this season.  

Tuesday night was Brody's very first t-ball game.  He is a Cub with his friend from school.  Two of his other best friends are on the Indians and they were all playing each other.  They talked about it all day and couldn't wait. 

He was so excited we were all going to get to watch him play baseball. 

He did really well.  We had talked to him about holding his position unless the ball came to him, etc.   But this league was a little different than what we were used to.  All the kids hit in the lineup each inning and can only run one base at a time.  No-one gets out, etc.    Not much action going on!

But pure excitement when his friends were running the bases!

He had so much fun and can't wait until next week.

We ran one errand yesterday while John and Mason were at practice.
Brody was zonked out.  Long, fun week!
