Orthodontist, Basketball, and Candy

Brody got his arch expander last Friday.  It is never fun.  It isn't comfortable, it feels weird, its hard to talk, everything, BUT he was awesome.  Didn't even cry.  He broke my heart when he quietly told me he wanted to eat lunch at home because his mouth was sore....

So, like any guilty Mom, we went to Target to get Motrin and any toy he wanted.
He couldn't wait to play Pop the Pig that night.

We have to turn it with a key twice a day for two weeks.  I thought it would be a nightmare, but he has been so big.  Once the two weeks is up, he will most likely have to wear it for another 3-4 months.

Game and dinner picked out by Brody himself.

We had our neighbor Teagan's birthday party Saturday at paint a piece.  Mason had basketball practice, so it was just me and Brody.

He had a lot of fun.

But then I made him run by the boring grocery store with me....

We went to church Sunday, and then came home to wash our car.  The lines at the car wash had been ridiculous.  Nothing a little child labor can't help with.

Mason has had a fun week of basketball.  He scored a couple of points in Monday night's game.  He has just improved so much.  I think Ive already mentioned it, but it has been fun to watch.

Jersey day at school.

Wacky Wednesday. Love his personality.

Thursday night was even more fun.  He scored 4 points and had a ton of rebounds and steals.
The kid can shoot for sure.  He just has a hard time getting an opportunity when these kids twice his size are guarding him.

Mom and I had bunco after, so John took the boys to Chickfila for dinner.
I sent him a text and asked if they survived, he sent me back this picture.  They grabbed dinner and ran up to the bowling alley to cheer on his team.

I chopped my hair today.

And we had a slumber party tonight.  We got to watch Teagan and Conner while their parents went to a Grizz game.  My kids were in heaven.

I was going to vacuum Mason's room and could see lots of trash Legos under his bed.  I got down low to get them all out and noticed a massive pile of candy wrappers.....I don't know whats worse, that he has been sneaking candy (I am a bit of a sugar natzi, so I get it...but just ask) or he is too lazy to throw away the wrappers?!   We called him in his room, and immediately starting crying knowing he was in trouble.  One of those situations where you don't even say anything because the guilt got him good.  Let's hope this is the last time this happens.....lol.

We don't have too much planned this rainy weekend.
Just another weekend closer to spring!

Snow Round 2

Welp, we woke up Tuesday morning with snow.  Not ice this time, just fluffy snow.
And no school.

Mason was still snoozing, Brody wanted to explore.

So the only problem with this snow was that it was FREEZING outside.  When I say freezing, I'm talking 1 degree wind chill....that is super super cold.

We went out to play and build a snowman.

But the snow was definitely not packable for even one layer of a snowman.
And the wind....we needed face masks.  My cheeks felt like they were going to freeze off.

We only played for about 10 minutes at this point.

John had to work, but I agreed to take the boys back to "the hill" to sled.

The only problem with snow AFTER getting ice three days before is that the snow is not near as fast as sledding on ice.  They were a bit unimpressed.

And not to mention again but the cold.
We stayed there probably about 30 minutes until we came home for lunch, hot chocolate, a fire, and blankets!

We had a talk with Brody about being a "big boy" and eating healthier.  And I'm not taking anything crazy....just maybe something other than mac and cheese and chicken nuggets.

Ice and freezing.

Schools were closed again Wednesday as well as my work, but we HAD to get out of the house.  We hung out with our cousins that morning and had a blast.

After, we ran some errands, had lunch out, and played at Get Air.

Mason played dodgeball with the big guys the whole time.

And Brody has always wanted to do the giant free jump, but has always been scared.  He finally conquered it this trip and never stopped.  He jumped off that thing about 40 times.
He was extremely proud of himself.

I had to go back to work Thursday, but the boys were out one more day.
We got to play with Teagan and Conner last night.

Mason had to go back to school today, but Brody had a doctor appointment so he is skipping today.
We are looking forward to warmer weather this weekend!!!!

Snow (Ice) Day 2018

We got word Thursday night that school was cancelled for Friday due to the predicted weather.
Next step was praying it actually came!

We woke up to sleet.  And lots of it.
The boys were begging to go out asap.  I held them off a couple of hours until I couldn't anymore.

Thankfully, our ski gear still fits.

We were getting pelted with sleet while out there, but they loved it.

Everything was clearly frozen....

We were def the first ones out.  Got the trusty sled out, and took it for a spin.
We ended up playing in the middle of the street the entire weekend.  Hardly anyone came by and it was a sheet of ice.

And it was so much fun!

Unfortunately, John had to go into work but the three of us had a great time.

We probably came in and out 10 times throughout the day.  But the boys wanted to stay out for long periods of time.  They had NO problem staying out there even though it felt like 10 degrees.  But they did have good winter gear on.

We headed back out when the neighbors came out.
Conner didn't know what to think about it.

Mason pulling Gabe.

They just love having friends to play with on days like this.

And of course they love having each other too.

It finally switched to snow!!!

"Smile, Brody."

"Smile, Mason."    haha

Mr. Sam could pull them super fast.

Finally got Teagan out for a split second.
She did NOT like the cold.

This big guy did.

Nothing like a neighborhood game of baseball in the snow.

All the while Laura Lee and I rigged up some heat in the garage....

Sledding down the street.....this was 4pm.
We started outside at 9am!

Football.

It was soooooo cold Friday night that everything was solid ice the next morning.

Since it was Saturday, John was off work.  We have gone to "the hill" three years in a row when it snows, but John had never been.  He has always had to go into work.  We have a retention pond down the street that is perfect for sledding.  We pulled the kids away from playing with their friends in the 15 degree weather and loaded up the car with the sled and winter gear.

It is always So.  Much.  Fun.

John said he had the best time.  Couldn't believe he had never been.

Pure joy.

I should have had Brody in front of me, but he wanted to hold onto the back.
Can't see his cute little face.

Horrible picture of me, but love it.

My hands felt like they were going to freeze off, so I had to put the cameras away.  But right after this last picture, Levi and Gabe pulled up to sled.  Next thing you know, Lucy pulled up with her parents also.  So most of the neighborhood kids got to sled together and had the absolute BEST time.
Mason and Brody both said it was the best day ever.  (John and I agreed)

We needed to break out of the house Sunday afternoon.
It was still so brutally cold and ice on the ground.

We had a friendly competition going on....

Spare

Healthy snack time....

Two spares in a row.

We had a wonderful weekend, but I think everyone was ready to get back on schedule.  MLK day was yesterday, so kids were out of school.  John and I had to work.

So we were supposed to start back school today BUT....
it snowed about two inches last night.  I mean what in the world.

Another Snow Day today!
