First Baseball Tournament of the Season

It was Teacher Appreciation Week last week.  We found a local popcorn shop (and gift cards) to give to our teachers.....and we may have gotten some for ourselves.  It was way too good.

We also had another fundraiser night at Son-Dash.  Brody insisted we go after dinner so he could meet up with his friends.  And he was right, most of them were there.
Mason was okay with going too...

They also had "movie star" day.  It is a bit difficult for boys, but Mrs. Roy told me to just put him in a jersey which he thought was a great idea.  He added a mohawk with it.

Mason's class during music.

Got our report cards Friday.  Mason got straight As again.  Brody for all Ms for mastered.

And during their awards assembly, Brody received the Kindness Award for Kindergarten, and Mason still has perfect attendance.  They each got a coupon for 2 free donuts so hello Saturday breakfast. .

Brody loves watching basketball but it was getting too intense for him...

We had a gorgeous weekend.

We had to get Mason new tennis shoes and he is now a size 5 which is a 7 in women's.  I wear a 7.5 but could wear his if needed....its crazy to me.  He is growing up too quickly.

Sunday was our first baseball tournament of the season.  Since he made this competitive team, it's all tournaments on the weekends.  We played in a one day Sunday tournament in Crowley which is about 40 minutes away.  We had to be there at 7:15, so it was dark out when he left!!!!

And it was COLD when we got there.  Brody hid under his blanket for the entire first game.

To be completely honest, we didn't know how much Mason would get to play.  It is a 10u team and he should be playing in 9u.  He has only one kid pitch fall season under his belt and it was with rec (and only 4 games bc of weather).  This is a completely different game.  It is clear he is lacking the baseball IQ but that comes with repetition and he just needs to practice and play, which is why he tried out.   He has never stolen bases or lead off....any of that.  But he got tons of playing time and held his own.  We were very proud.

Brody and I found some tricks.  The bathrooms were warmer because there was no wind blowing on you (wind is so bad here!), and they had warm water!  We thawed out a few times in the morning.

And found some hot chocolate.

Unfortunately, we lost the first two games.  We had a couple of hours to grab lunch before the next game.  He got a double and walked a couple of times in the morning games.

Mason went out to practice with John before the next game and Brody and I stayed in the car.
I could've taken a nap!

Brody was his biggest supporter all day.  Wore his extra hat, watched all all of the last three games, kept score for all of us parents, and ate plenty of sunflower seeds.

We then started to sweat and got sunburned for the next games.....

Mason up to bat.

He got the game ending run and was pretty excited.

This was about the time it turned cold again.  Thats when you know you've been out there too long.  Go from freezing, to hot, to cold again.  They ended up having to do 2 extra innings in the fourth game and lost.  It was crazy intense.  Im not sure I'm cut out for all this!  If they would have kept winning, they would have had to play 2 more games.....we didn't get in our car until 6:30 that night to head home too.  This is going to be a big adjustment for all of us.  But it was really fun to watch him and his team play.

We all woke up groggy Monday morning, but that didn't stop
Brody from finding socks for crazy sock day.

I spent the day catching up on life and getting these stains out of these baseball pants.
Man, it is tough!

Valentine's Day and MM and Pops

This is going to be VERY long.
My computer has been updating my pictures for what seems like a month now.

Brody had a birthday party for one of his best friends at school.  She is the sweetest and they have such a good friendship, but she is a girl....and he was the only boy invited from his class.  But the thing about Brody, he didn't really care.

And honestly, they played together the entire party and had a great time.
They watched how she drew a unicorn or a horse and the kids followed the directions.
It was a great party.

Then we had a party for one of Mason's friends at a jump place.  He goes to their school and lives down the street so Brody thinks he is his friend as well.  Thankfully, they invited Brody too, so he was happy.

Finished the last bedroom upstairs.  Only had to paint it because I couldn't find touch up paint.
But it looks so much better.

Surprised the boys with lunch last week.
(Forgot to take Mason's picture)

Had to start working on Valentines for class.
We stuck with the store-bought and I was totally okay with it.

Both boys wanted to do the same ole' open mouth box again.

Mason and John bought me some starburst jelly beans which was super thoughtful!
They are my fav.

All things red.

I was able to help with both valentines' parties.

We also made some fun brownies.
It's about as fancy as we went.

Mickey Mouse and Pops came in town, and we were all so excited.

Lunchdates.

I had an interview thrown in the middle.

We were able to enjoy beautiful weather for the first couple of days.

And John and I got to go to eat alone.
Of course we were back before the kids even went to sleep.  Ha.

Saturday was Mom's 70th birthday.  Before we could celebrate, we had basketball.

Cheering on the Horned Frogs with his horn.

Mom wanted to check out Nebraska Furniture Market and it was amazing.  I cannot even explain how cool and giant this place was.

Photobomb

Terrible picture due to the light but we went to Pappasito's for an early dinner.

And then had cake!

Sunday morning we had a fun brunch.

Photo cred: Mason

And John got fried Sunday at baseball practice....

Mom and I got our nails done.

And Mason wanted to take them to In and Out to experience it for the first time.
They had to leave Tuesday morning and we were so sad to see them go.  Until next time!

Brody LIVES for Mason's basketball practice.  They scrimmage at the end and he loves to join.  Unfortunately, he didn't get the invite this week.  Ha.
