College Color Day

Mason is still going to hitting lessons at the facility even when it is 100 degrees outside.
He doesn't seem to mind it....

But Brody and I have found one small room with a wall unit....

Mason's friend Trevor, who moved to Michigan, sent him a letter back.  We have been writing back and forth.  They let the other know what they've been doing and ask lots of questions.  It is sooooo sweet.

We have also been getting weekly allowances IF they do their chores without asking.  So far, the first two weeks have been great.....and their bathroom looks 100% better.

Back to School Bash was last Friday.  Brody and his best buds.

(Mason was there but was off with his friends the whole time!)

Saturday was our last free Saturday for a while.  We went to Nebraska Furniture Mart which is one of my favorite places here!  We ended up buying Mason a dresser that I have been eyeing since February.

Ate at a fun place in The Colonies for lunch before picking up the dresser.

Loooooong weekend.

This is totally against what I believe in, but John got a couple of tvs from someone at work.  We rearranged the TVs in our house and Mason got this thing.....but there is his new dresser.

We started a new series at church called Power House.  Mason spent the beginning of church punching this thing with his class.

Keller ISD had College Colors Day on Wednesday.  Perfect week with the kick off of football.  I'm pretty sure the entire school participated.  They had a fun day with it.

I work Wednesdays and Thursdays and John had been in CA for work.  He didn't get home until Wednesday afternoon, so Sarah helped me get the kiddos to school that morning.  She snagged a picture of all the kids and it is sooooo cute.

And then Brody had a lunch date with his buds.  I love that they are dabbing.....of course they are.

Love their sweet little friendship.

Mason got a few new teammates this season.
I mean what a difference in height.....

Brody had a project at school.  They were supposed to write ways they can be respectful (it is the character trait for Shady Grove for this first 9 wks).  They were also to color a picture of themselves for the parents to figure out who wrote what.  Of course my child was one who tried to "throw me off" with his drawing of himself....

To help decipher (it had to get help from another Mom)

Kind Words
Be Kind
Encourage
You can be kind to others

We could all learn a thing or two from his writing assignment!

A Weekend of Fun

Brody had a dentist appointment on Friday.  Already getting out of school early!  He actually had a cavity....I know, I know, awful dental hygienist mother over here.  We went to the peds office in Keller and they were awesome!  (as well as Brody)

We had some friends over after school.  Charolette and Mason were hiding for hide-n-go seek.  I had NO clue he was up there and she totally ratted him out!

Backyard baseball

Saturday, we ran lots of errands and let the kids just play.  We met some neighbors at the pool for a fun night of swimming.

The boys had races going on on the other side of the pool.

There were four 4th grade boys and one 1st grade boy who loves playing with his brother's friends.

So much fun.

Three of us are in the bunco group, the other is always subbing for us.  It was night to get together and no one had to host at their own pool and dirty up their house!  The kids swam, the adults chatted, and we all ate pizza.  It was a perfect night.  We will be doing again soon!

And the sunset was absolutely beautiful!!
I've never seen anything like it!

Sunday morning before church.

We thought we were going to be bored all weekend (until we weren't!) so we bought tickets to the Ranger game Sunday afternoon.  It was going to be super hot so the tickets were cheap.  The boys have been dying to sit down close to the field....I was thinking more about all you can eat and shade but not them.  Ha.

When I say it was super sunny and hot.....I mean it, supper sunny and hot.
I thought we were all going to die!

But this kid wanted a ball soooooo bad.

And as you can see, only a few of us idiots were there to watch....(but our seats were good)
Next year they will have the new stadium with a ROOF!  Cannot wait.

Brody and I went and sat up in the shade.  The nice people there were encouraging people to sit in the shade.  Ha.

But he was relentless.  Thankfully, a sweet kid got two balls and gave Mason one!

But that meant Mason wanted a bad for Mason...there they are watching.

We found out that one of Brody's teammates and his Dad were there, so John and Brody went to find them.  So here is Mason....waiting for a ball!

And then he got smart and moved even closer to where they were throwing them.
Unfortunately, they threw him one and some old man jumped in front of him to get it!  Rude!  I was able to convince him to walk around in the shade after that!

We found friends and got free popsicles!

And good news we survived.  I didn't know if we would there at the end.  And look at Mason's legs and his tan lines from those tall socks.  Ha.

It was a SUPER fun weekend which makes it hard to wake up Monday morning for school!!!
Back to the grind this week!

First Day of School!

Brody had his first Keller Indians practice last week.  He was so excited to get back to it.  He loves his teammates....and they may know each other too well now.  Lots of playing going on.  Ha.

Got our mugshots passport pictures done.  Now to find time to get us all four to the post office!
Mason struggled with no smiling....just like his mama.  And goodness, my kids have blonde hair in the summer!!!

Spent Saturday running errands and then had a friend over.

Made it to church Sunday and it felt sooooo good!

It was the last couple of days before school started (started on a Wednesday) but it was tooooooo hot to go outside and swim.  We had some lazy days but did get to go to the new opening of the Keller Braum's.....with the rest of the town.

We were also able to squeeze in a playdate with some of Mason's friends at Kids Mania.

And got Andy's ice cream to end the summer the night before school started!

Our big FOURTH grader.  His last year at Shady Grove.
It almost makes me cry so I cannot imagine next year!

He has three teachers and had the best first day.  They are switching up the classes this year (so homeroom class does not stay together when traveling).  He loved having all different people in his three classes.  I also think any friend he has ever had at the school is in his 3-teacher pod so that was also exciting!

First Grade here he comes!

He also had a great first day.  His best friend is not in his class, but his twin brother is!  His day was made.  His teacher is new this year, but her kids were already at the school.  She is so sweet, and I know he is going to have a great year.

For the first time in months, it rained in TX.  And really, it was over by 8am, so maybe God was just crying because school was back in session.

Happy to be back at The Grove!

 Brody and Mrs. Wilhelmson
(Mason did NOT want a picture and I assured him I wouldn't make him! Ha)

Once drop off was over, I met up with other Shady Grove Mom's at a friends house for mimosas and breakfast.  It was So.  Much.  Fun.  Here is everyone cheers'g to kids being back in school!  Haha

Last night, I had bunco at my house.  First time to host here in Keller.  It is my neighborhood bunco group, and it's a lot of fun.  Thankfully it was only the first week of school, so we had no practices or homework.  John was going to take the boys to dinner but ended up getting cheap tickets to the Rangers game with the all included buffet included.  I don't know how many hot dogs, hamburgers, ice cream, popcorn, nachos, and sodas they had BUT they had a blast. They didn't get home until late, but hey....it's Friday!

This is an awful picture of me, but we took a picture LATE last night with the last four remaining bunco gals.  FYI, jello shots alway make for a successful bunco!

Well we made it to Friday, so we met friends at the donut shop before school.
Hopefully we can have more Fun Fridays!
