Spring Sports have Arrived

We had tons of fun last weekend.  We got to go to Reese's track meet Saturday.  These three were pretty happy to hang out together.

Reese ran her little heart out.

And these guys played the whole time.
John may have even gotten in some football action.

She PRd on all three events.
She did awesome.

We went back to Robert and Becca's to watch football and play.

And just like every other time, the kids begged to spend the night.  Reese came home with us, and the three little ones stayed at their house.  We got the better end of the deal since the older kiddos sleep in.  Ha.

Sunday night was Mom and I's long awaited Christmas gift from Dad.  We had dinner at Babalu and then to the Orpheum to see Wicked.  We had never seen it before and were looking forward to it.

It.  Was.  Awesome.

Brody's teacher had them write/draw what they did over spring break, and then hung them on the walls.  Brody wrote, "I went to the twins house."  =)

He had his first t-ball practice last week.
Im not sure if he was more excited about practice or getting to hang out with his classmate from school.
Either way, he was counting down the days!

He did so well.  I think it helps having an older brother.
This is his first season of t-ball.

And Mason had practice at the same time.  Double duty.
We are hoping for games this week, but the rain chances aren't giving us much hope.

Wearing tights under shorts to school like his brother....

Mason and I went back to the orthodontist Friday....and looks like we will back the next couple of Fridays after that.  It is time for a lip bumper and a combo upper arch expander with braces on the front four teeth.  Poor kid has teeth just like me.  He also has to have a couple of teeth pulled, so that part isn't quite as fun.

Friday night we had soccer skills for both boys.
Then baseball practice for Mason.  Everything gets so jammed with all the rain.
Brody and I got to practice on a field while Mason and Dad had practice.

Saturday was MUCH colder outside than the temperature said.  We started the day at Brody's t-ball practice.  He was really excited his Dad was going to get to be there since he had been out of town last week.  Mason and I went to watch the first thirty minutes before we left for his soccer game.

He looks wayyyyy too big out there.

We've always throw grounders to him when practicing outside, but turns out he can catch pretty well.
John had to get him to turn his glove, but he does really well with it.

But he is super silly out there.  Ha.

Proud (and cold) big bro.

Next up was Mason's first soccer game of the season.  He did well.  Been a while since his team has played, so they were a little rusty at the start.   He is so much stronger than the beginning of the fall season.   He really does love soccer.

He got a couple of shots on goal, and had a breakaway.

This is a better picture of what it felt like out there.  It was misting rain the ENTIRE time and was super cloudy and cold.  Not gonna lie, it was miserable BUT we were so glad they got a game in.

Mason had a soccer teammate's birthday party after the game.
Still felt the need to climb a tree after all of those activities.  Ha

It was a jam packed week/weekend, but so fun. I sometimes wonder what in the world we did on the weekends before kids.  All I know is I wouldn't change it for the world.

11 Years and Spring Break

Baseball season is back.  Mason is an Astro and his Dad is a coach.
He is super excited.

That is Brody's forehead.
He is always pushing up his hair in the front trying to get a perfect spike, so this was his dream!

Last Friday, both boys had ortho appts.  I will find out the damage on Mason this Friday....ya know, all the financial stuff about braces.  Cant wait.  Ha.

March the 10th was our 11th anniversary.  Time flies.

John got home last Friday night from a work trip, so I was just glad he was home!
The boys set up a nerf war early that morning.

And then we headed to Daniel and Emily's for a crawfish boil.  Mason even remembered Daniel liked to cook it with shrimp too.  He loves it.

Brody, on the other hand, is not a fan.
Of course that means he hasn't even tried it...

John and I had reservations for Southern Social that night.  We had a great time.  He even went out and bought me some awesome things before he left to go out of town, which was so thoughtful.  I truly feel like every year gets better.  We work as a team, and I would be lost without him!

Spring break began and we had no plans.  John and I both are pretty busy at work right now, so no vacation for us.  The boys were able to stay with my mom and she kept them on the go.  I think they had a great week.

They started the break at Toys R Us using the rest of their gift cards from Christmas.  Rumor is they are closing.  It was a bittersweet day for the boys!

Tuesday was a bit windy, but they met friends at the park.

I think they stayed out there for hours.

And then finished it off with ice cream.

Wednesday they went to Get Air.

And Thursday was the prettiest day of them all.  They had a picnic in the park and stayed for about three hours.  They had a blast.

It has been nice having the extra sunlight after the time change.

Working on that spike.
He should have been working on those white legs in the sun!  =)

Of course I was off on Friday, so the boys wanted to know what kind of fun activity we would be doing.....oh ya know, getting my oil changed, headlight fixed, picking up our tax documents.  Just a ton of fun stuff.

But they were great the entire day, so I took them to Smallcakes for ice cream and cupcakes.

Girls Weekend

I am behind on my blogging.

A couple of weekends ago, we had Mason's end of the year basketball party.  He had really been looking forward to it.

John, Brody, and myself bowled a game since we were there.
Brody tied with me....

Coach played along with the kids.  They had a blast.

Giving out trophies.
It was such a fun basketball season.

We went to church Sunday and then had to run by John's office.
The boys were excited to see it.

John put Mason to work.  Made him water his plant.

It was finally a beautiful day Friday.
I took the boys to school, and then headed out of town.

Warning, I'm about to post a lot of pictures of the same thing....BUT it was a weekend to remember.  My dental hygiene friends and I went to Nashville and stayed with Karen.  We had a BLAST.
It had ben forever since we all hung out, but we picked up where we left off.

We got to Nashville starving, so we headed straight to Bakersfield for tacos.
I cannot wait to go back there.  Ha

We shopped at Greenhills for a bit before heading to the nail saloon for pedicures.

We went back to Karen's for pizza and girl talk by the fire on her back porch.

We woke up early (like the Moms we are) and had plenty of coffee and time to get ready for our brunch reservation.

We ate at Old School and it was one of the best brunches I've ever had.

We shopped for a couple of hours and then hit up Broadway.
Who goes to Nashville and doesn't Honkey Tonk?!
It could have been about 10 degrees warmer, but the sun was out so who cared?!

We headed back to Karen's to get ready for dinner.  We stopped by The Hermitage for a drink and to check out the bathroom before dinner.

This is the famous men's bathroom.
Of course I knew nothing of it, but it was pretty cool.

We had dinner at Gray and Dudley which was in an art building. The restaurant has these blue penguins as "mascots".  That sucker would just appear at the table every now and then.  And of course the food was amazing.

Karen and Jonathan may be the best hosts ever.  They are the nicest, foodies around.  We got to do so much in those two days along with plenty of girl time.  Cant wait until we can do it again....although I'm not sure our husbands would say the same.  Daddy daycare was going strong this weekend with our eleven kids.

Also, everyone kept face timing their husbands to talk to their kiddos.  All their girls (they all have at least one) would text or call on their own asking when their mom would be home.  I figured I should facetime then too....and all I got was John cooking up some wings and the kids playing outside.  Wayyyyy too busy to talk to me.  And when I got home, no welcome home banner for me....just an empty house.  They had gone to the baseball fields.  Ha.

But no really, I'm so thankful to have such an awesome husband.  The kids didn't skip a beat and had a great weekend, even if it included some McDonalds....
