Baseball Weekends are Here

We got back in town from FL and thirty minutes later, Mickey Mouse and Pops arrived.
They watched the boys while I worked the next two days.  Of course they were spoiled with donuts for breakfast and whatever they wanted for lunch!

Mason's teacher sent him a sweet note on Spring Break.

We picked our brackets for March Madness and Brody is ALL IN.

Even when his bracket is busted on Day 1.

Both boys played that weekend so Mom and Dad were going to see some ball!

John was the head coach for the day on that Saturday.

Knight waiting to play pool play game #2.

Brody and I were able to get to Mason's game 2 of the day.
Unfortunately, we missed game 1 where he was the starting pitcher and did AMAZING.  Mom and Dad were able to see though!  Here he is hitting off of his school friend, Landon on the other team.

                                                                        After he scored.

Watching big bro

We went to our new favorite restaurant, Horizon 76.
Nothing like chicken and waffles with some s'mores.

This may all look like fun so let me throw in some unfun things.
Remember that awful winter storm?   Yeah, it killed all the landscaping in TX.  Super fun.

Back to fun: funnel cake at a cold baseball game at 9am.
Dad was clearly here for the food.  Ha.

                                                                        It was so windy!

We were able to get to the end of Mason's game.
                                                                Here he is on second.

We were playing a GOOD team and winning until the very end.  A couple of errors and they tied it up.  We had to do a CA tie breaker which is SOOOO stressful.  They put my sweet little child in to pitch and it just wasn't a good situation.  They hit a swinging bunt and nothing anyone could do about it.  They tied it up and then Mason walked a batter in to lose the game.  IT WAS AWFUL.  We were super sad for him and John felt awful he threw him out there.

Mason was super upset, but he got over it quickly.  He should be proud that his coaches and team thought he was the best person to put in there to pitch.  He was been AMAZING all year and he was the person for the job.  We just lost.  We can't always protect our kids from defeat and sometimes its cool to see how well they overcome it.  Spoiler Alert: he pitched amazing the next time he got on the mound.

                                                                Little brothers watching.

John has done so well with Mason and pithing, Brody is up next!

We were back at it this weekend.
Brody had league play Saturday and Sunday and Mason was in a tournament.
Grandma text me this picture of Gpa and Griff watching Mason's at bat between their games back home.

I missed Mason's games Saturday while I was with Brody.
I did get this fun picture of one of his teammates after hitting it over the fence.

They were playing in a 12U AA tournament and Mason started the first game.
And boy was he awesome.  He pitched two innings, 20 pitches, 3 strikeouts, 6 up - 6 down, no hits or runs.  They had to pull him after his two innings so he would be allowed to pitch Sunday.  Happy I was able to watch on GameChanger.

                                                                Happy after Game 1.
They did lose Game 2 but they were ready to bounce back Sunday.

And he was happy to get the W.

Ready for a fun Sunday of ball.

Brody and I were able to go to game 1.

He is playing a lot of left field but also third.

                                                                        Little brothers

Mason fielding the bunt (and a little fall after).

They got the win and were headed to the championship game.
Brody and I had to leave for his games and missed it.

                                                        Winner winner chicken dinner.

Mason started the championship game and did sooooo great.  He was able to pitch 3 entire innings and left the game tied 2-2.  We were able to finally get more runs on the board and ended up winning the game 6-2.   They were so pumped.

(And thankfully, one of the Mom sent me some pictures.)

Pretty sure he is saying "Let's Go"!

John and Mason were able to get to Brody's last game.
(What a long day)

Last event of the day: met up with Mason's teammates for dinner.

                                                                    Shirts v. Skins.

It was a loooong day.  Left the house at 10 and home at 9:15 going nonstop BUT I wouldn't change it for the world.  It was a GREAT day and those Bags should be proud!!!  (Not to mention, Brody's team went 4-0 for the weekend.)

Spring Break 2021

Started Spring Break with a wine night with girlfriends.

We left Friday afternoon headed to Fort Lauderdale.
We had flights to Miami and drove up to our condo.
(These boys look huge here!)

Speaking of huge, our plane was a triple 7 and MASSIVE.

It just towered over all the others.

Plane selfie.

We did wake up to a pretty view but goodness, what a bunch of people ready to party.

Only kids at the condo but they didn't even notice.
Breakfast with a view.

Everyday had a high of 80 and it was PERFECT weather

We had the beach to ourselves in the morning.  Everyone was still sleeping.  Ha.

Their Dad buried them.

Pina Coladas.
They did have a tiki bar and beach service which was super nice.  It was also the reason the place was packed.  South FL just has super weird people.

We rented beach chairs and an umbrella both days we were on the beach and had the perfect set up.

Thats one way to have a relaxing trip.  Ha.

We went to a nice dinner at Shooters which is on the water.
It was beautiful.

We saw draw bridges go up three times on the trip!
Tons of sailboats and yachts.

We let the boys order whatever thy wanted.  Mason only orders on the adult menu anyways these days.  Stone crab for all!

Dunkin Donuts for breakfast.

It was a beautiful area.

We went back and let the kids play.

The boys were DYING to ride jet skis.
We did one ride and split the time between the two (Mason got more but Brody didnt even know.)

Brody was up first and very scared.  Lol.  John had to go super slow and he thought that was still a little faster than he liked.  BUT he said he loved it.

John came back and grabbed Mason and picked up the speed a bit.

We went to the fancy Italian restaurant in our condo.

Brody wanted the steak....

We only had three real days there.  Two were spent on the beach and we had tickets to Spring training on the last day.

We met up with our friends at their rental house.  This historical tree was right next to the house and AMAZING.  I've never seen anything like it.

We went to the West Palm ballpark and it was just beautiful.  It is where the Astros and Nationals play their games.  We saw Astros v. Marlins.

It was a HOT day with no ocean breeze.
I thought I was going to melt!.  Ha.

We were so glad to be able to meet up with friends.  Brody's teammate and friend Breck was there with his brother (who knows Mason well) and Dad.  Their momma (my friend) was coming the next day with their oldest son.  Our schedules really only allowed us to see each other this one day.

Heckling the Astros for balls.

They got a wave from Altuve (not that any of us are Astros fans.  Ha)

The adults found a palm tree for shade.

They ALL walked away with balls and were thrilled.

We went back to the little town they were staying in to grab dinner.

It was the most perfect set up for dinner and the kids had a great time.
It was an awesome way to end the trip!

At the airport looking like Washington Nationals fans after we went to an Astros v. Marlins game....

We had a great trip!  We had to come home on Tuesday since I work Wed/Thurs.
It was the perfect time away.
