Solar Eclipse

Brody did great at school for his first full week....only a couple of hiccups.

One being that they take no naps.  It has been an adjustment...

I mean these are five minute drives from the school to the house.  

And number two...he didn't have to pull a clip all week except the very last day. 

Yup, he pushed someone.  But in his defense, the kid was joking around and not walking when supposed to so Brody gave him a little shove to help him.  Ya gotta do whatchya gotta do when trying to get to the playground quick!

Mason had another loose tooth.  All of Tara Oaks knows that Mrs. Lavelle (his kindergarten teacher) is the "tooth puller".  Mason was hoping so bad she would get to pull it.  It wasn't ready on Friday afternoon but she did try! 

After dinner Friday, we tried a little fishing.  This is our millionth time to try and have yet to catch a fish.  No one in our family is going to be signing up for a fishing tournament anytime soon.  

 Well that tooth finally came out Saturday afternoon and right after this picture was taken, we dropped the tooth in one of the cracks in our driveway!!!  I tried to fish it out with dental tools but just ended up shoving it down further.  

Thankfully, he wasn't too concerned that we lost the tooth at the time.  

Then I think he started wondering if the tooth fairy would come.  

So we had him write a note to her...

John and I had a date night Saturday night on the town square.  

It's nice to sit around and have good conversations with friends and discuss important stuff like our kids and Game of Thrones....

Sunday morning, Mason was happy to see he tooth fairy didn't forget about him.  She even left glitter where the tooth had failed.  He was super impressed with her skills. 

After yard work, we decided to go to the Y for what may be the last time of the summer.  

Monday was the big day.  Solar Eclipse 2017.  

Mason's and Brody's schools have been learning all about it.  Mason got to go outside with the rest of the kids to see it in person, Brody's class watched all the coverage on Apple TV and did all kinds of fun work about it.  

Mason's school wore all black.  He even wanted to wear the black shoes. 

Totally stole these from Twitter.  So many kids missed school, but Mason's teacher snapped a couple of pictures.  He said it was sooooo cool and gave us a demo or two of the eclipse. 

My work blocked off the hour when we would have 95% totality.  We had the glasses and all.  Unfortunately for the people in East Memphis, it was super cloudy at that time and even started raining.  Super disappointing.  

But we did take nerdy pictures. 

BUT we did get to see the sun before and some after so it wasn't totally missed.  I have to say, seeing the coverage on tv makes me want to drive to Arkansas in 7 years to see it there at 100% totality.  My luck it would be raining again!

It was still such a cool thing to see (even if only for a minute or two).  Ashley snapped this picture and I stole it.  I think it is so good!
