Going Way Back: Granbury, Baseball, and Visitors

We have found a sushi restaurant in town that we all love.  We are finally enjoying some good food with these guys. 

Neighborhood pick up game. 

I brought my camera for the last coach pitch game for Brody's team.  So crazy that it is over. 

 It was such a fun ride!

Got him turning a double play at second. 

It was also our coach's last game to every pitch.  He has three boys who have all played baseball and he has pitched to sooooo many kids (not to mention how good and accurate he is!).  His sweet sweet wife made a banner of pictures throughout the year.  It was so special and we were thankful to be a part of it!

Then we had a pool party after!  It was Sunday Funday!

The next night, we had thunderstorms and HORRIBLE hail.  I do not know how but our little neighborhood missed the hail.  I swear it was ALL of Keller minus our hood.  

Everyone I know has totaled cars, roofs, fences......so bad. 

These boys have been busy.  

The next Friday night, Brody's team practiced at a faculty and celebrated a teammates birthday. 

A little kickball action. 

Miraculously, we planned a trip to the lake and everyone was able to go.  Originally, both boys were off this weekend but then Mason's team threw in a tourney.  We ended up with a lot of rain that week and no baseball was played in DFW.  It worked out because the weekend weather was much better.  Saturday was sill dreary but no rain.  The sun came out Sunday!

Our friend has this wonderful house in Granbury right on the lake.  

It was PERFECT and we had so much fun!

Between Rocker B and the lake house, Brody wants a new fishing pole. 

The paddle boat was a hit. 

Evans caught one!

Mr. John caught one too. 

These three went out to fish.

So the adults could have a cocktail and play card games. 

Rise and shine Sunday morning.

EXHAUSTED but had so much fun!

(I convinced them to stop at the local HEB on the way out (amazing TX grocery store) and it was everything I thought it would be!)

We have relaxed our Covid guidelines (thank goodness) and allowed us back on campus for Field Day!

He is all about some winning.  Ha.

It was so nice to see other parents and the kids in their environment. 

Finally had our dead bushes from the winter storm removed and new plants planted. 

Keller High is in the playoffs and both boys had teammates going to the game. 

We had to go to Scheel's to get Mason a new glove (don't ask) so we brought Owen with us and let them ride the ferris wheel.  Just your normal sports store.....

We got our first swim in the Saturday before Mother's Day. 

Mother's Day was spent at the ballpark for a one day tournament for the Knights.  

They got in their very first kid pitch tournament. 

The Dads.  Ha

We brought the tattoos.  

I also brought the camera since it was kid pitch AND they were wearing pink for the Moms. 

Brody had a great day.  His first at bat was a triple. He also had a double and a single that day.  He also struck out for the very first time in his life (he had seriously never stuck out at coach pitch). 

 He took it like a champ!

They all looked nervously back at that ump making sure he called a ball.  Ha

Coach John and Coach Mason back there.  

They were both yelling "back" if the pitcher was trying to throw them out and also made sure those boys knew not to swing at a 3-0 count!  Lol

Bprdy got to pitch.  He doesn't throw very hard but he does throw strikes. 

They got a 9u win!  They were PUMPED. 

                                            We had some visitors this past weekend!

They were able to see SIX games with the weekend ending in rain.  We kept them busy! Brody played a league play game Thursday night and Mason played his first pool play game Friday night. 

They were able to see Mason pitch two innings Friday night
.  He did awesome!

He did give up a couple of hits and they tried to turn a triple into a HR (they are huge fields).  Our catcher got the kid out and the reaction of catcher and Mason is priceless. 

The Knights went 1-1 on Saturday. 

They played SO GOOD.  It was a really big 9u tourney and they are 8u and just getting started. 

 

We were also able to see Mason's game that afternoon (no pictures here as I was taking Brody to a bday party). 

Headed to the field sometime in the 6 o'clock hour with heavy rain on Sunday morning.....

We did get to see Brody's first game on Sunday.  They lost but played some good competition and did so well!  Right as the game ended, it began down pouring.  That tournament was cancelled right then and there.  So we headed over to Euless to see Mason play.  

They had delayed the game before ours, so us ladies waited it out in the car.  

We put our seats back and relaxed.  Then we decided to just head home and they could call us when games got started again. 

They were playing on turf infields and grass outfields.  

While waiting, all the teams there got a wiffle ball game going on. 

So fun. 

Unfortunately, Mason's games were rained out also. 

It was time for ALL of us to nap. 

We rested up for a great dinner at Horizon 76. 

We stuffed our bellies and had some great conversations!

And Grandma Reba had her first s'more in her life!!!

We walked off all those calories after dinner on the trails.  

It has been a busy couple of weeks but we have had so much fun.  

These kids of ours are at GREAT ages.
