I am assuming I'm going to need multiple posts because I took a bazillion pictures and want to document it all. We are back from our family beach vacation with a few more pounds and a little more tan. We had a wonderful time, but it was certainly more work with two little boys this year! But we had such a good time and I'm pretty sure Mason is ready to go back.
We decided to leave between 4-4:30 am Saturday morning. I was very nervous about the drive with Brody and thought that would be best. Brody has never been quite the sleeper Mason is and easily wakes up if he hears anything. Well sure enough, he heard John and I up and started screaming at 3:45. (he doesn't wake up happy...ever!) So that plan backfired on us immediately.
Fortunately, we bought dual screen DVD players and they were a lifesaver....as well as our fingers and toes.
The drive was pretty easy down there (and even easier on the way home), and it was worth it for this view for a week!

We had our traditional pizza night the first night there. Mason was pumped for the popsicles.
We could hardly look for crabs because of all the seashells. I can't remember seeing that many in a long time. Every one that he saw was "so pretty" and "perfect" and he had to bring home for his teacher.

Guess those swimming lessons paid off...Mason jumped in the minute we said "go". He was also so good with swimming. By the end of the trip, he was swimming over and under water and on his back. (with floaties on)
I think Brody is going to be a water baby too.
We headed down to the beach to boogie board. Mason was so comfortable playing in the ocean...a little too comfy actually. I think he would've just ran out there alone if we let him. Brody was just taking it all in. Eating Cheerios and watching his big bro.

Most of the other days we ended up going to the beach once Brody napped and just taking Mason. Brody didn't have a problem with the sand though like I thought he would. He actually didn't even have a problem eating it. =)

We attempted dinner for the first time this night. (first night pizza, second night ordered in) We headed to Lulu's and made sure to get there by 5:00 but there was still a 2 hour wait! That is crazy, so we went to Tacky Jack's across the water. There was almost no wait, probably the same menu, and even all the sand for the kids to play in. So much better.

These boys were not having it. It is just so hard to take them out to eat after a long day of sunshine, swimming, and hardly any naps. We really messed their schedules up this week!!

We ended up eating at a table outside. It was nice and there were plenty of fans, but the tables were so high. They actually stacked two highchairs on top of each other, but Brody was still having a pretty hard time seeing...

As the week went on, Brody decided he would rather be a little more independent than floating in his raft. We had to come up with different ways to entertain him. He enjoyed throwing Mason's toys in the water.

We attempted dinner out again. We worked on getting some form of a nap in during the day and it was a much more successful night.
The restaurant was right across the street from the condo so we just walked. I love this picture. I seriously have to be married to one of the best husbands and father ever. He played so well with Mason and entertained him the entire trip. Not to mention, he can calm Brody down in a heartbeat. They absolutely adore him.
We had a little tug of war going on after dinner. Brody is a pretty strong little fella.

He won a little pirate bag with different colored jewels. He was so excited about them and wanted us all to play his game he made up called "Pass the Jewels." We sat around in a circle and literally just passed the jewels around. He kept saying, isn't my game awesome?!
Oh the things we do for kids. =)
