Got back from New Braunfels just in time for our first bunco in months!!!!
Brody was off the next weekend, so all eyes on Mason.
Headed to the fields at 7am and the storms were rolling in....
Bit of a lightening delay but the teams played tic tac toe together.
Came home from early games on Saturday to relax by the pool.
Mason pitching on Sunday.
Jumping in the pool to cool off after those hot games!!
DONE.
On the days I work, the boys stay home for a few hours and then go down for lunch and afternoon at my neighbors house.
Found the snow cone hangout in Keller!
Mason usually plays outfield or 3rd base but they needed a shortstop that weekend. He was up for the challenge. It took him a couple of plays to get the hang of that throw but he ended the weekend playing awesome at short.
He and Colby loved playing together.
Mason's team struggled their first bracket play game but I have to say, that team never gives up.
I just cannot explain how hot it was this day!!
They were so lucky to have one of their Mom's as their leader. She is amazing.
A little afternoon summer swimming.
Two days in a row, the VBSers went swimming and hung out all day long!
These boys are such great friends on and off the field.
Ready for the last weekend of baseball! Tatis style!
John and Mason had the later games so Brody and I went to our parties.
Last day in these uniforms for the season.
We ended up having to make a mad dash to the car and we had not one dry spot on our bodies. It was just hilarious. But it STUNK because the boys were going to win the toughest tournament we played all year. We were all so proud of them. They were AWESOME Sunday.
Bit of a lightening delay but the teams played tic tac toe together.
Came home from early games on Saturday to relax by the pool.
And then off to a neighborhood bday party.
We got season passes to Hawaiian Falls this summer and I took the boys.
They had a blast and we will definitely be back soon!
(Notice the short bathing suits.....its a thing)The next weekend, both boys were paying in the same tourney on the same fields. Problem was, Brody drew early games and Mason late (10:00, 2, 6, and 8) and we were 40 minutes away. We ended up leaving Mason home on Saturday to get out of the sun and I went back home to get him for Brody's second game.
Mason's team was off that weekend, so he helped out another Dirtbag team.
He was able to sub with one of his current teammates and also got to play with some of his old teammates.
Mason usually plays outfield or 3rd base but they needed a shortstop that weekend. He was up for the challenge. It took him a couple of plays to get the hang of that throw but he ended the weekend playing awesome at short.
He has been hitting really well but he decided to go off this weekend.
He went 10-12 with two walks. They quickly moved him up the lineup.
Sunday was Father's Day and both boys were the #2 seed which was fun.
#1 Dad
Brody's team won the first bracket play game and then hung around waiting for the next game (hours in between).
The other team left their pitcher in a little too long and we had a couple of guys his a double in a row, then he walked someone. Mason was then up to bat. They took out their pitcher and put another kid in. We needed 2 to tie, 3 to win with runners on second and third. Mason hit a walkout to win. It was so so exciting. The fields are HUGE and he hit one out to right-center. It was a triple, but then they missed their cut off and he ran home. We won and advanced to the semis!
Mason pitched three innings in the semis and did awesome.
(how dirty is this kid?!?!?!)
Brody's team ended up losing in the semis. They were playing up in 9U and faced another Keller team. They have done sooooo well in these 9U tourneys.
Mason's team hit ANOTHER walk off to come from behind and win the semis. It was so fun to be a part of. Mason started off that last inning with a single to get them going.
They ended up losing at 8:00pm in the finals. They were on game 3 on such a hot day.
Mason had such a great weekend!
Brody did VBS that next week with his baseball friends.
They got to witness one of their teammates get baptized at his house on the last day.
Ready for the last weekend of baseball! Tatis style!
Thankful to have a big brother do it for him.
Brody pitched awesome on Saturday.
His spongebob wasn't so perfect.
John and Mason had the later games so Brody and I went to our parties.
I was able to see Mason play Sunday morning because Brody didn't start until later!
He was still on fire!
Winner Winner Chicken Dinner.
Mason pitched a complete game in the first bracket play game Sunday.
He was awesome.
Mason's team beat the #3 team in the state to move on to the semifinals. They were awesome yet again. We knew we could win it all if we beat that one team. We were winning in the bottom of the first with two outs and they had to go into a lightening delay. We sat round for an hour and then oh my, it started POURING. Wind blowing - tents destroyed were standing under. It was comical.
(Boys did have fun during the day - before the rain- dancing and hanging out)
And that is a wrap on baseball. Both boys had amazing seasons. Brody and the Knights started kid pitch and it was fun to watch, NOT painful like it usually is. He had no issue transitioning and was CRUSHING the ball until the last two tournaments. Struggled a little bit hitting but he will figure it out! They are going to be tough to beat next season!
Mason and the Dirtbags ended the season strong. Mason grew so much as a player this year. He was our best pitcher and played great on defense. Not to mention, he finished with the second highest batting average. Lots of growing and it was fun to watch!
Wont be long and we will be starting fall baseball! HA.
