Bluebonnet Season

April's Fools Day was last Monday.  Brody had been waiting for a week to get his trick in.  He wanted to eat the middle of an oreo and then refill it with toothpaste.  So, why not.  I bought the oreos and we planted it for Dad.  Brody is still talking about it. 

We had dinner and saw a Rangers game that night with half of Mason's baseball team.  It was a fun night. We started at Hooters.....I do love their wings and fries.  

Brody chose to be an Astros fan.  They were supposed to be the better team....go figure (and they did win that game). But also, the family on Mason's team with two younger brothers are Astros fans, and he knew they would be wearing Astros gear too. 

Made it to the ballpark.

We were up high with no-one around which was perfect.  I would say we were LOUD.

Got our yard cut.  Looked so much better.
It is almost fully green now.

Mason went to his friends' house after school last week.  She has horses, guinea pigs, dogs, all kinds of animals. He had a BLAST.

Friday was Brody's very first Field Trip.  He was counting down the days!

It was at a small theater a couple of towns over.

They got to go dance when the show was over.  He was a little concerned with the show started and kept asking how much longer.  Don't think a play is his thing.  Ha.

But he loves riding the school bus.

And the picnic at the park after. We were out there for two hours!

And it was the perfect weather.

These two play outside every day after school.  They play baseball until they are hot and sweaty.

And then the third child comes home and plays with them. 

John was having them dive for catches.  It was great.  Ha.
(ignore the backyard....we have a lawn service and they supposedly were going to kill these weeds....)

Practice on Saturday was a fun one.  

Glad we have an indoor facility, it was POURING down rain all day.  

Brody's game was cancelled.

Sunday morning before church. 

I had wanted to see the Bluebonnets up close and personal since they are out and about.  I had never heard of a Bluebonnet until we moved here.  But it is a BIG deal.  Everyone takes their pictures with them.  It is the TX state flower and is a wildflower that pops up every year for a couple of weeks.  Some are in giant patches that are beautiful.  We didn't drive too far to find any "Bluebonnet Trails" but found some good enough.  It is illegal to pick them because they won't grow back the next year.  

But I'm telling you, it blows a Texan's mind if you tell them you have never heard of a Bluebonnet before.....

Of course we had taken off our church clothes and literally had no shoes on.  It had been raining so we sat around for a while before we went out driving.
