Birthday Boy!!!!

We ended up being sick ALL week!  Attempted to go back to daycare Wednesday, but I got a call from Mrs. Pat at noon that he had a fever again along with a rash all over his body!  Mason finally went back on Friday and had a great day.  I thought we were going to have to cancel his big birthday party!

Well our sweet little baby boy turned ONE on Saturday!  I cannot believe a year had already flown by.  I don't think a year and nine months ago I could have even imagined having a baby, and today I can't imagine our lives without him!  He has just brought so much joy and happiness to our whole family!

We did a sock monkey themed birthday party and the colors were red and blue.  We originally thought maybe the Ole Miss game would be on during the party but it was much later.  I think it turned out pretty good.  Mason did sooooo well!  I had been very worried about this because of his regular nap schedule, but we changed it up a little and it worked out well.

Since our house is smaller, we decided to order some tables and chairs for the backyard so people could actually sit somewhere.  The only thing I wasn't thinking about was the sun...and boy was it bright!  It wasn't until about 4:00 until we got some shade.

I took a million pictures (as well as Lyndsey) so I won't post them all!  Here are the pictures from the fun day! =)

We had peanuts on all the tables!  Yum

Cozy Coup!  Yay!

Reese pulling Mason in his shiny new wagon!

The spread.

Blake, Brittany, and Becca (and the sun)

Reese.   I love this picture of her!

Poor kid...his pants were too long!

Mason and Brinkley eating ham sandwiches!  Who knew they could eat them???  They are sooo big! =(

Melissa, Blake, Emily, Stephanie, Brittany, Jessica (with baby Jacks), and Lyndsey.
Thanks so much for coming! =)

Present Time!
He just started digging right in!
 Cars, cars, cars

My dad wanted to get him a jack in the box.  His reaction was priceless when it popped up!  (it kind of scared me a little too and I knew it was coming)  John and I both forgot to get the camcorder to video, it was charged and everything!

Cake Time!

Hmmm...
"Yummy...Are they just going to let me keep eating?!?!"
 "Yay!!!"
"Help me!!  It is EVERYWHERE!!!"
****We had a bath immediately following this picture!

Payton and Reese had a good time together.
They kept screaming, "Wee!"

The only family picture we took.  Mason isn't even in his original bday outfit!

Grandma Reba and Grandpa James with the tiger they got Mrs. Judy on her first birthday.  (Mason got a tiger for his present too!)

Funniest picture of the day!
The girls were in the tent my dad got Mason and Grandma Reba was trying to get them.   They were all screaming.  It was hilarious!

 Robert and Becca
So glad they are back in town!

I found this on my camera and have no idea what they are doing but I love it! =)

Look at those sweet, blue eyes.

Reese had her arm around Mason, so sweet.

Reese eating hot wings!

Lyndsey took this picture and I think it is awesome.  My mom and Mason were playing with the jack-in-the-box.

Lyndsey throwing Mason in the air.  Him loving it.

Standing in his wagon.  What a cutie.

The guys watching football.

"What did these girls put on my head?!?!?"

"It's my birthday!"

All these toys and what are we playing with...the boxes!

We had a wonderful day if I haven't said that a million times by now.  I do wish we had taken more pictures of the people who were there to share the day with him.

Our Little Man is just growing up too fast!

Sick Little Guy

We went to Miss Brinkley's first birthday party this weekend.  We had a great time!  She got all kinds of fun things and Mason was checking them all out too...licking the toys, chewing on her new set of car keys, etc.  (I think I even said at one point, "Don't worry, he isn't sick.")

Here is the birthday girl!!

She loved the green icing that spelled "Brinkley"!

 Diggin in!

Well after all that fun, we were getting ready to leave and I noticed Mason felt very warm but he was acting like he felt okay. He had a 102 degree fever! Sunday morning he woke up and it was very obvious he did not feel well at all.  I guess he hasn't ever been sick besides ear infections.  It was sooo bad.  You just feel so helpless when they feel that bad.  He wouldn't let you put him down and he would just lay his head on your chest.

Luckily, our pediatrician's office is open on Sunday afternoons.  They checked for strep because his throat was so red (but it is rare in children this young), and he didn't have it.  So it is just a virus that has his whole mouth raw, high fever, and just feeling awful.  No medicine besides Tylenol and ibuprofen.

And no daycare the last two days.  John kept him Monday (it looked like a tornado came through the house by the time I got home from work!!!) and our mom's split time with him today!!!  My work isn't exactly easy to get off spur of the moment, so I am soooo thankful for John, my mom, and Mr. Larry and Mrs. Judy!!!!  I cannot thank yall enough!

Here is the Little Man.  He won't let go of his paci.

Even sick, he still finds time to taunt Emma!

So sweet! =)

I think Mason is on the ups and going to start feeling like his normal self tomorrow!  Now, I just pray sweet Brinkley doesn't get sick!!!

Bow Snatcher

So most little girls, such as Brinkley, hate wearing their bows.  They find them annoying and I can see why.  But most little boys do not steal little girls' bows... mine does!  Apparently, Mason also finds bows annoying?  Today when I picked him up from Mrs. Pat's house, another parent was there to pick up his little girl.  They handed him her things and also gave him a plastic baggy with her bow in it. They were about to explain why it was in a baggy but he stopped them and said his wife had told him what Mason does!

He takes all the little girl's bows out and puts them in his mouth...everyday!  She ends up having to put them in a baggy with their name on it so she can remember whos is whos!  EVERYDAY!  I don't know what we are going to do with this kid! =)

After Mason had eaten dinner, we all decided to go outside and let him play on his new slide thing we got at the neighbor's garage sale.  It is just right up his alley.  I took lots of pictures. =)

It has this fun little wheel on it.  He loves anything with wheels!

 Having soooo much fun.

I love this picture!  The part where you can stand at the top of the slide has holes on all the sides so you can look out.  He bent down and was laughing at me.

I love hanging out with my daddy.

This is blurry, but look at his little head smiling over the slide.

Yes, the actual slide part of it is pink.

He really hasn't played too much in the grass.  He wanted to get to the sprinkler.  It looks like he is dragging me in this picture.

Leaves!

And we are bear crawling back to the slide.

I think he loves it.

Disaster...

The last time I posted, we were headed to Mason's first Ole Miss football game.  John and I were very excited and had everything ready the night before.  Mason went to bed a little later than normal and woke up Saturday morning a little EARLIER than usual.  We assumed he would sleep most of the hour on the way there and boy were we wrong! (we could've planned the timing a little better)  He talked the whole way there.  We arrived in the grove around 9:00 (his nap time!!!) and about ten minutes later...disaster struck!!  He began screaming...

and screaming...

and screaming!!!!!!!!!!!

I tried to rock him to sleep, walked him around for what seemed like forever, and strolled him around for what seemed like forever!  We took him to check out the band...no luck.  For almost two hours...he yelled.  Towards the end of his adventure in the Grove, he was actually screaming with his eyes shut because he was so tired.  With all the commotion, missing his nap, all the people - it was just too much for him.  He honestly has never just screamed that much in his life as he did Saturday!
John pushed his stroller while I carried the unhappy little man back to the car (walking by a ton of people who couldn't help but to turn their heads to see if we were hurting him because at that point I had never heard the type of sounds coming out of my child's mouth).    He still couldn't sleep in the car.  It was time for something drastic...I called my mom! =)  We thank her soooooo much for meeting me in Holly Springs and taking him to her house.  He yelled the entire way to Holly Springs in the car.  When I got him out of his car seat, he was actually shaking he was so mad, but he instantly laid his head on my shoulder and went to sleep!!!!!!!!!!!!

He slept all the way back to Memphis, and played and had a wonderful day at Gami's house.

I drove back to Oxford to catch the rest of the game and relax!   I had knots in my neck!

I didn't get a single picture of that day and honestly very glad we don't have anything to remember it by.  John and I are both wondering if Mason just doesn't like Ole Miss.

****************************

Anyways, onto something better.

Here are our cute new shoes.  But recently we discovered that the setback on walking all of a sudden are these things!!  So the last few days I have sent him to daycare in socks only and we have progressed much more!  Today he was taking soooooo many more steps!!

Here is is pushing his car around in his polo and first jeans!  He is just too cute! =)

John says I should definitely delete this picture, but I think it is priceless.  Everyday when we get home from daycare, I sit him down by his toys but he crawls over to Emma's kennel.  I now have to shut the door as soon as I let her out so this does not happen anymore!  He really was having so much fun though!

Mason LOVES rocks and Mr. Jimbo found him this shiny river rock!  He could play with it for hours!  He does the same thing every time: Gets it in his hand, stands up, throws it, crawls to it, and starts the process all over again.

Our neighbors had a garage sale but they brought this little cart thing over for Mason to have.  Their two girls and the little boy across the street played outside with it for years and she wanted Mason to have it.  I thought that was so sweet.  He of course loves it.  He has already figured out he can lug his toys around in it!

We also decided to buy this slide thing to put in the backyard.  I think he will love it!!!  (and it was only $20!)

Since it has been so chilly in the mornings here, we have gotten out his coat!  I think he looks sooooo cute in it! =)  He really wasn't too sure what to think though.

We are just having a normal, busy week this week.  I start back this Friday working!  I think I had gotten use to cleaning the house and doing laundry on my day off!

Have a great week!
